1. What is a weather?
Ans: Weather is a complex phenomenon that includes variations in factors such as temperature, rainfall and humidity over a short period of time.
.2. Give any two examples of animals living in desert areas.
Ans: Camel and Addax
3. Define temperate climate.
Ans: In temperate climates, the temperature is usually moderate or average without going into extremes. Such climate exists in areas that lie between the hot tropics and the polar areas.
4. Define the term adaptation.
Ans: The changes in an organism to become fit to stay in its environment.
5. What is humidity?
Ans: The amount of water vapour existing in air.
6. How is temperature measured?
Ans: Temperature means the degree of hotness or coldness at a particular point of time. It can be measured by a thermometer and is measured in degree of Fahrenheit, Celsius or Kelvin scales.
7. Define the term rainfall.
Ans: Rain fall is the precipitated water droplets that the clouds can no longer hold and thus falls down in the form of rain. Rain fall is measured using an instrument called the rain guage.
8.Write short note on Camel.
Ans; A Camel can drink many litres of water at a time. It stores food in the form of fat in its humps and hence can stay without food for a long period of time. It can run easily on sand, and hence called 'the ship of desert.'
9. Where does the Weddell Seal live and how does it breathe?
Ans; They generally live near the rivers or on the edge of ice packs and breathe through open holes formed in ice.
