Narrator asked this question about his old friends with whom he was playing Gilli Danda in his childhood. He asked it as he was desirous to play gilli Danda once again.

Answer :
Gaya doesn't want to be reminded his childhood sport Gilli Danda because now there is no match between them. Narrator becomes an Engineer but Gaya is a poor groom.

Answer :
Writer was astounded because Gaya was playing as skillful as he played in the childhood full of enthusiasm.
C. Complete this table and discuss in class.
The story contrasts the relationship and position that the narrator and Gaya had as young children and as adults. Write the sentences that bring out this contrast.
Ans- (i) As Young friends they were quarrelling to each other. Gaya was batting while he was fielding. He didn't want fielding any more and wanted to go back home anyhow. He asked to Gaya, "Can't I even go home to eat or drink?" He refused and hold me strongly. He said, "No, not till my turn is over".
Ans (ii) As adult now narrator became Engineer but Gaya was a poor Groom. When luckily they met, there was too much difference in their status. Narrator wanted to know did he ever remember him all those years? Gaya couldn't disrespect him. Narrator wanted to play Gilli Danda and batting first. Gaya didn't argue and offer him bat as he liked.

The Narrator left his childhood home and went away as his father was transferred to another town.

Answer :
The narrator says that Gilli Danda is the king of all the sports because this sport need not special lawn, a court, a net or another expensive equipment We are agree with him because we have to just climb a tree, cut a branch, make a gilli and a danda. Only two children can play this sport.
3. When the narrator talks about his childhood, he describes Gaya as tall and thin but when he meets him as a grown man he describes him as a short, dark man. Why do you think he does this?
Answer :
I think he does this because now they are grown up. Narrator gets good environment for study and healthy food for eating .On the other hand Gaya lives in the same plight and does hard work in the stable.
